How do you get more sponsors?

Most clubs have more potential sponsors than they think. The problem is rarely finding them – it is getting started, following up and closing the deal. Here are five steps.

Sound familiar?

  • Sponsor sales happen when someone happens to run into a business owner
  • Offers are sent – and forgotten when no reply comes
  • The club has no packages, so every agreement starts from scratch
  • Nobody can show a potential sponsor what the others have received

Five steps to more sponsors

  1. Start with the people who know you

The parents’ workplaces, the members’ companies, the board’s network. They rarely say no to a meeting.

  2. Find the businesses in your area

Look them up in the Danish company register (CVR), and see which industries you are missing: no accountant, no car dealer, no bank.

  3. Build packages before you call

Bronze, silver and gold with concrete products and prices. Then the meeting is about what the sponsor wants – not what it costs.

  4. Follow up – every time

Set a date for the next contact before you hang up. Most deals close on the second or third approach.

  5. Show what they get

Photos of the boards, attendance figures, a picture from the network meeting. Documentation from your current sponsors sells the next ones.

How Sportmanager helps

Potential sponsors are pulled from the Danish company register (CVR) and gathered in one inbox. Each offer moves through stages on a board, so nobody is forgotten. The packages are ready, the agreement is sent for digital signature – and the documentation from your current sponsors sits on their pages.

  • Prospects from CVR with industries and follow-up dates
  • Sales pipeline with stages and value
  • Standard packages tailored per sponsor
  • Digital signature on a phone

Questions

How many sponsors can a club have?

A small association handles 10–30 by hand. With a system, larger clubs work with 50–300 active sponsorships spread across main sponsor, partners and supporters.

What should a sponsor package include?

Concrete products: a board, a logo on the shirt, tickets, hospitality, mentions and networking – at one price. The sponsor should be able to see what they get without asking.

What do we do when a sponsor says no?

Ask if you can get back to them in a year, and set a date. Many no’s are a “not now” – and the club that calls again gets the deal.
